A leading company is seeking a dedicated Transport Planner to join the transport team at the Liverpool Transport Depot. This permanent position requires a highly motivated individual to assist in all aspects of the Transport Department, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Transport Manager and will play a crucial role in optimizing transport resources, managing routes, and maintaining high standards of service.
The Candidate;
- Previous experience as a Transport Planner
- Experience in the waste recycling industry is highly desirable
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK
- Clear and confident communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, effective at all business levels.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines independently and under own initiative.
- Capability to multi-task effectively.
- Proficiency in analyzing data, preparing, and presenting accurate reports.
- Ability to identify and suggest improvements beneficial to both the company and customers.
- Highly motivated, capable of working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
- Proficient in IT, with the ability to use relevant software packages.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach and a commitment to continuous learning.
Duties and Responsibilities;
- Efficiently manage the daily transport plan in real-time, maximizing resource utilization while minimizing costs.
- Identify and resolve resource issues promptly, ensuring minimal impact on customer service levels.
- React and adapt to route planning changes and delays, implementing re-routing as necessary.
- Oversee the timely completion of planned maintenance on vehicles and trailers, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Address and resolve queries related to errors, omissions, or amendments in previous deliveries.
- Maintain up-to-date data entry on all transport systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Manage breakdowns or delays, ensuring quick resolutions and keeping key stakeholders informed.
- Monitor vehicle progress and locations to ensure the completion of all planned work.
- Coordinate with the Weighbridge Team regarding any late vehicle arrivals, arranging for tipping and reloading as needed.
- Allocate shunting duties to optimize the use of assets and drivers’ hours.
- Handle customer inquiries via telephone or email, setting and agreeing on priorities for collections, and ensuring relevant systems and personnel are updated.
- Process all transport-related paperwork, ensuring accuracy in data content.
- Debrief drivers at the end of their shifts.
- Contribute to maintaining high workplace health and safety standards.
- Stay informed and competent in all relevant transport legislation, codes of practice, and health and safety regulations.
- Participate in emergency cover and planning, both during and outside normal working hours.
