We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor for an award-winning company in Norfolk. Working in the Commercial team and reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for controlling project commercial activities. You will work closely with the project managers, site managers and site supervisors to control costs and ensure smooth project delivery.

The Candidate:
- Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or qualified by experience
- Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience of working as a QS in the construction industry or 10 years’ experience if no formal QS qualification is held
- Knowledge of working with standard forms of contract as well as bespoke
- Solid organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Enterprising/self-starter – motivated and able to work independently
- Possess confidence and initiative and enjoys working autonomously
- If you have worked closely with steel/glass, this is desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- You must be willing to travel internationally (occasional, on average once a month) for projects.
- Adaptable /cooperative – willingness to help with any task to achieve a goal and ready and able to adapt to meet the needs of the business
- Candidates with the experience or relevant job titles of Commercial Manager and Commercial Director may also be considered for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Commercially responsible for assigned projects
- Manage client-based and supply chain payments
- Prepare and agree claims, contra-charges with supply chain and clients
- Carry out client-based contract risk reviews and negotiations and present to senior leadership
- Raise and administer sub-contracts
- Manage and ensure all financial and contractual aspects and impacts of all contracts are communicated to the team and managed accordingly
- Manage and administer contractual obligations
- Financial management and reporting of the project and it’s supply chain
- Management and undertaking of technical procurement
- Resolving contractual and commercial queries and issues
- Identify risks and implement risk management strategies
- Ensure compliance with current legislation and good practice
- Oversee performance of KPI’s
- Prepare and issue notices and contractual letters
- Oversee and control change management
- Control all project related costs and undertake monthly CVR’s and reports
- Manage and prepare contractual and legal claims
- Site visits and client interaction
- Manage project related accounts from award to final accounts
- Develop and table new ideas for improvements in commercial management/activities
