We are working in partnership with a leading national freight forwarding & customs brokerage operation. With a strong track record of success and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, we are dedicated to continuously improving our operations and expanding our business.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Manager to join the team. This role will be responsible for overseeing heading up a sales team, new business sales, solution development contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the company.

- Experience of leading and manging sales teams
- Proven experience winning new within the freight forwarding or customs sector
- Strong knowledge of the freight forwarding industry, including market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully acquiring new clients and driving revenue growth.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Commercial acumen and experience building sales pipelines, developing proposals and in negotiating multi-mil £ commercial contracts.
- Ability to think strategically, identify opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in using freight management systems and other relevant software applications.
- Avid industry learner, naturally curious and highly passionate about the logistics sector.
Duties and Responsibilities;
- Head up a sales team consisting of circa 8 sales professionals
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive client development strategy to maximize revenue and profitability, focusing on freight forwarding and customs services.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the customer base and increase market share. Establish and maintain relationships with potential clients, negotiate contracts, and secure long-term partnerships.
- Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business. Understand client needs, anticipate requirements, and provide tailored transport solutions to meet their expectations.
- Pricing and Contract Management: Develop pricing strategies and ensure competitive and profitable rates are offered to clients. Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and customers, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
- Market Analysis: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions. Conduct regular market research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth and stay ahead of the competition.
- Team Player: Natural communicator and collaborator who builds strong international relationships and shares sales intelligence across the wider sales team in a bid to contribute to the overall success of the group.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize operational and financial risks.
